Refund Policy

Effective date: June 15, 2026

This Refund Policy explains when Zakatable refunds subscription and add-on charges. It supplements our Terms of Service at https://app.zakatable.org/legal/terms. If you have not read the Terms yet, please read them first — they govern your subscription generally.

We try to be fair. If a charge doesn't sit right with you, email [email protected] and explain what happened. Most refund situations that fall outside the rules below are handled case-by-case in good faith.


1. Free trial

If your subscription is in a free trial, you will not be charged. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid any charge. We send a reminder email a few days before the trial converts.


2. 14-day money-back guarantee on the first paid month

If you are charged for your first paid month and decide within 14 days of that first charge that Zakatable isn't right for you, email [email protected] from the organization administrator's email address with:

  • the organization's slug (e.g. masjid-as-sabur)
  • a short reason (optional but appreciated — it helps us improve)

We will refund the full first-month charge to the original payment method within 5-10 business days. The guarantee applies only to the FIRST month on a new paid plan; it does not reset if you upgrade and downgrade.


3. Annual subscriptions

If you paid annually:

  • Within the first 30 days of the start of the annual term, you may cancel and receive a pro-rated refund of unused months MINUS one full month (the one-month deduction reflects the discount you received for paying annually).
  • After 30 days, annual subscriptions are not refundable. You may cancel to prevent the next year's auto-renewal; access continues until the end of the paid term.

4. AI Phone Assistance add-on

The AI Phone Assistance add-on is sold in monthly blocks of 100 included minutes for $25, with overage at $0.30/minute.

  • Unused minutes do not roll over to the next month.
  • We refund full, unused monthly add-on periods if you cancel the add-on before the period starts (next billing cycle) — there is no refund for the CURRENT month's add-on once it has begun, because we pay our voice provider per-period in advance.
  • Overage minutes are billed at the end of the month and are not refundable once consumed.

If you believe a phone-intake call was billed in error (for example, the assistant failed mid-call and the request was abandoned), email [email protected] with the approximate timestamp; we will check the call log and credit any minutes that were not productively used.


5. Other paid features and add-ons

Future paid features will follow the same general rules:

  • Unused, full, future periods are refundable.
  • Consumed usage (per-message, per-API-call, per-disbursement) is not refundable once consumed.

We will note any feature-specific exceptions at the time of purchase.


6. Payment-processing and disbursement fees

Fees charged by Stripe for processing your subscription payment or for ACH disbursements you initiate are pass-through — Stripe charges them to us and we pass them through to you at cost. Stripe does not refund their processing fees on refunded transactions in most cases, so:

  • For subscription refunds, the Stripe processing fee on the original charge is not included in the refund amount.
  • For disbursement fees on completed ACH transfers, we cannot refund those — the funds have already moved.

7. Chargebacks

Please email us first before initiating a chargeback. A chargeback triggers a $15 dispute fee from Stripe and a 30-90 day investigation window during which we may suspend the account. Almost every situation can be resolved faster and more cheaply for both of us by email at [email protected].


8. Cancellation does not equal refund

Canceling your subscription stops future renewals and revokes access at the end of the current paid period. Cancellation by itself does NOT issue a refund for the current period unless one of the rules above applies. To request a refund, email [email protected] explicitly.


9. How we process refunds

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method (the same credit card or bank account that was charged). They typically appear in 5-10 business days depending on your bank. We refund in US dollars; currency-conversion variation (if any) is borne by your card issuer.
